Blame Nensi Dojaka. Though cut-outs were a major fashion player last summer, the trend is going a whole further in 2022 and we’re pointing the finger at the Albanian-born designer (nicely, of course). A favourite of Dua Lipa and Adwoa Aboah, she’s become synonymous with the look thanks to her lingerie-inspired dresses featuring whisper-thin straps and slinky, skin-baring cut-outs. Now the look has trickled down to the high street just as we’re starting to think about where to go for our summer holidays.
As the OG, you can do no wrong with Dojaka’s pink cut-out mini (£1,070) if your budget allows, but those who don’t do colour can shop Reformation’s more demure style (£180), or opt for Zara (£45.99) and Mango’s (£59.99) purse-friendly black designs. Sticking with monochrome, Line & Dot’s cut-out white maxi (£191) is ideal for far-flung vacations (sundowners in the Maldives, anyone?), but if you want to channel the colour of the season, add & Other Stories’ long-sleeved green midi (£75) to your shopping cart. We’ll be packing San Sloane’s woven co-ord design (£195) in our suitcase for multiple looks in one, while Free People’s floor-skimming print dress (£89.95) and Zara’s cobalt linen design (£32.99) are here to take you from beach to bar. All that’s left to do is to book that holiday.
