You’re Going To Love: Narchie
In the latest of our series focusing on up-and-coming independent brands with female and non-binary founders, allow us to introduce you to Narchie

What is it? A new social marketplace app for all interiors enthusiasts. Officially launching today, it’s already been dubbed “Depop for homeware”.

Who’s behind it? PR agency owner Harriet Wetton who had the idea in March 2021 as she grew increasingly frustrated with the broader remit of other marketplaces. “I really wanted to be able to connect with other people who loved homeware and to discover new makers and creators all in one place,” she tells Stylist Loves. Eight months later, Narchie (a play on the South African word for clementine) was born.

Why you’ll love it: After spending the best part of the last two years at home, you’re not alone if you’ve become obsessed with revamping your space, spending countless hours searching for joy-inducing pieces. Now Narchie makes it easier to shop a range of unique items – and sell your own. “Our sellers are a really diverse mix of indie brands, side-hustlers, upcyclers, specialists, artists and creators,” says Harriet. “We want to provide a platform for a new generation of homeware entrepreneurs.” From vintage lamps to bold accessories and eye-catching glassware, we’ve already bookmarked a handful of sellers – including one of Harriet’s favourites, Vince’s House – with plenty more waiting to be discovered on the Instagram-like interface. Just like Depop, you can easily start your own vintage interiors side-hustle or use it to find a new owner for pieces you’ve fallen out of love with, while connecting with other homeware fans. Gumtree, this is not… narchie.com

Move over ice skating – curling is taking over London for winter 2021

There are few things that paint a picture of London at Christmas quite like a glistening ice rink set next to a 40-foot tree decked out in fairy lights (we’re looking at you, Somerset House and Natural History Museum). While doing your best Torvill and Dean impression has dominated as the quintessential winter activity, this year there’s a new way to enjoy some al fresco festive fun. If you’ve ever become slightly too competitive over a game of summer boules or pétanque, it’s time to give curling a try.

First introduced at the 1924 Winter Olympics, the game dates back to late medieval Scotland – with the aim of earning the most points for your team by sliding a polished granite stone across a sheet of ice towards the target zone. Sound like a bit of you? At Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross, Club Curling features six synthetic ice rinks, alongside a Club Curling Bar for some pre-game liquid courage (£5; until 30 December). With the promise of some friendly competition set to a soundtrack of festive tunes, tickets are selling fast, but if you miss out, you can also get your curl on at The Curling Club’s two pop-ups. Taking over The Langham’s swish courtyard until 20 February (from £9) and Finsbury Square 1-19 December (from £15), après-ski vibes are guaranteed, with live music, alpine-inspired street food and seasonal cocktails – not to mention several ice rinks for the all-important game. Team GB skip and three-time Olympian, Eve Muirhead MBE, will even be on hand to offer tips to all novices. Beijing 2022, watch out…
