These 2 cult brands will brighten up your space with their new interior collections

If filling your home with cheering colour is on top of your interiors agenda now that GMT’s dark evenings have kicked in, we come bearing good news: two beloved brands have just debuted new mood-boosting collections. Since 2016, Copenhagen’s Tekla has offered up chic neutral fabrics for your bedroom, bathroom and living room – now, it’s upscaling kitchens with a range of richly-coloured organic linen table cloths, napkins, tea towels, glass towels and aprons. We’ll be sporting the cobalt blue apron (£130) while rustling up a Sunday roast, after tablescaping with the claret tablecloth (from £265) and pistachio napkins (£29 each) for the ultimate colour contrast.

Over in the fashion world, London-based label Olivia Rubin – loved by the likes of Eva Chen and Lena Dunham – has poured its signature technicolour aesthetic into its first homeware collection, available in store at Liberty today and online tomorrow. The 30-piece collection boasts pastel designs almost good enough to eat – we suggest feasting your eyes on the sorbet striped dinner plate (£38) and pink and green check cushion (£145) first, but if loud prints are more up your street, the bright stripe jug (£38) and rainbow stripe throw (£175) are sure to get you salivating. Rainbow Brite would be proud…

Can’t face wearing heels anymore? These statement flats will help you survive party season

While we’re hoping for plenty of IRL events after the disappointment that was December 2020, we’re not sure our feet are as excited as we are for the upcoming festivities. After 18 months of spending more time in slippers/sliders/socks than proper shoes, the prospect of wearing a pair of Carrie Bradshaw-worthy statement heels isn’t quite as enticing as it once was. The solution? Say hello to party flats – the perfect hybrid for those who want to dress for the occasion, while not being in agony 15 minutes after the first sip of prosecco.

Ideal for adding colour to an all-black outfit, both LK Bennett’s green satin mules (£179) and Asos’s hot pink pointed flats (£18) are backless so pesky heel blisters won’t ruin your night. Worried about cold feet? Go for Zara’s gold foil loafers (£29.99) or Charles and Keith’s pearl-adorned platform style (£85), while velvet fans will love Boden’s embroidered tasseled pair (£120) and Kurt Geiger’s burger and fries embellished loafers (£139) – anyone craving post-party Five Guys already? Zara’s shiny slingbacks (£45.99) absolutely belong on the dance floor, but if you’re after the party flats to end all party flats, look no further than the Ella style (£349) from Pretty Ballerinas which combines burgundy velvet, oversized bows, diamantes and pearls with a 1920s-esque T-bar. Could it be time to hang up heels up for good?
