| This unmissable documentary goes behind the scenes of Ireland’s abortion referendum | Exactly three years ago today, Ireland held a referendum on whether abortion should be legalised – and the result was a landslide victory for everyone who believes in reproductive rights. To mark the anniversary, gripping new documentary The 8th tells the story of the movement to repeal the eighth amendment (the part of the Irish constitution that gave “the unborn” the same right to life as a pregnant person), and it’s an absolute must-watch.
“At the heart of The 8th are two very different feminist activists: Ailbhe Smyth, the 70-something head of the Coalition to Repeal the Eighth Amendment; and Andrea Horan, the savvy millennial founder of a Dublin nail bar,” says Stylist Loves’ deputy editor Moya Crockett. “Ailbhe is a veteran campaigner, while Andrea didn’t get involved in the pro-choice movement until her 30s (in her words, ‘when I was in my teens and 20s, all I wanted to do was party’). But each brings essential skills to the table, and I challenge you not to fall in love with Ailbhe’s gritty, sprightly sincerity and Andrea’s candid charisma. Documentaries about social movements can sometimes feel more worthy than watchable, but The 8th is pacey, thought-provoking and genuinely inspiring. Everyone should see it.” In cinemas and available to stream online now

| This open-air dining experience is summer’s must-have reservation | It’s fair to say that after months of making our own meals, going out for dinner again – napkins! Table service! Eating somewhere that isn’t our kitchen! – has been something of a revelation. And if anyone understands the power of a change of scene, it’s the team behind fabled US supper club Outstanding In The Field. For more than 20 years, the roving restaurant has hosted epic dinners in stunning locations around the world, from the foothills of Mount Fuji to Californian beaches. UK fans of OITF usually have to contend with living vicariously through Instagram – but that’s all about to change.
On 10 July, the open-air dinner series will touch down in the UK for the first time in a decade at the idyllic Lower Town Farm in Cornwall, with a feast prepared by local chef Ben Quinn and San Franciscan restauranteur Adam Dulye. The following Friday, OITF is teaming up with Stylist favourites Honey + Co for a Levantine feast at a secret London location. Tickets aren’t exactly cheap – the cost includes a drinks reception with canapes, a tour of the event site and a four-course sharing menu with matching wine – but if you’re sticking with outdoor dining until you’re vaccinated, keen to treat yourself to an unforgettable experience after a frugal lockdown, or in dire need of some seriously impressive social media content, we suggest booking your seat at the table sharpish. 10-16 July; £219pp; outstandinginthefield.com
